Social worker (RE-ADVERTISED VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT IMMEDIATE RECRUITMENT)

The Social Worker will be providing direct assistance and support to women victims or
at risk of human trafficking for the purpose of labor and sexual exploitation,
as well as conducting outreach and prevention actions on the group and
community levels. The social worker will be based in Greater Beirut with
frequent trips to the field. 

Key tasks and responsibilities:

On the individual level:

-        Provide crisis intervention and holistic
case management services to exploitation and human trafficking victims such as
meeting victims in the field, assessing imminent risks and needs, developing a
safety plan, providing supportive counseling, coordinating with resource
persons in order to reach the desired services and demands, etc.;

-   Assist the beneficiary in obtaining the desired services or undertaking the necessary measures such as accessing KAFA’s safe shelter, seeking medical examination, participating in recreational
activities, etc.;

-         Assist the beneficiary in accessing justice and undertake the necessary measures and procedures such as coordinating with KAFA’s lawyer, approaching authorities, attending a police or judicial
investigation, etc.;

-         Liaise and coordinate with external services providers to ensure comprehensive support to the beneficiary;

-         Act according to the best interest of the beneficiary by adopting a survivor-centered approach:

-         Ensure that beneficiaries are dealt with understanding, sensitivity, and empathy, and abide to the guiding principles of GBV protection: safety, confidentiality,
non-discrimination and ‘do not harm’.

-    Be regularly available and reachable outside regular working hours to address emergencies.

On the group and community level:

-         Conduct field visits to relevant communities or groups at risk on regular basis;

-         Assess the needs of communities and groups and propose ideas for awareness or other
psycho-social activities;

-         Organize outreach activities and/or special events;

-         Design and conduct awareness and psychosocial activities;

-         Attend community or groups’ event when relevant.

On the institutional level:

-         Maintain regular communication with the management in order to ensure a coordinated
response and evaluate priorities of action;

-         Prepare progress reports regularly, and ensure proper documentation and updating of the
individual files of the cases on KAFA’s case management database
and ensure quality of data;

-         Periodically reassess beneficiaries’ needs and progress in meeting the objectives defined for each
beneficiary;

-         Represent KAFA in relevant forums and meetings;

-         Abide by KAFA’s values, mission and vision, and policies.

- University degree in social work, psychology, or related fields;
- A minimum of 5 years of practical experience or case management and awareness work with vulnerable groups and/or with women;
- A proven record of SGBV knowledge and experience;
- Works with honesty and integrity;
- Ability to quickly build trust and rapport in interpersonal relationships;
- High respect of and ability to work with people from diverse socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds;
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with challenging social problems and behaviors;
- Ability to work independently and as a team player;
- High level of flexibility in terms of time and mobility and availability to work for long hours and at night time in case of emergency;
- Strong oral and written skills. Fluency in Arabic and English is a must. Knowledge of French is welcomed.
