Purpose: The Communications Officer will play a crucial role in promoting Kayany Schools to prospective parents and pupils, prospective staff, the local community and the wider public and encouraging their engagement with the Schools. He/She will assist the projects Managers with all aspects of the Communications Strategy, making this a diverse role with opportunities to deliver a range of marketing and communications activities.
The post holder will be responsible for the School’s online communications including the school website its use of social media, creating digital and printed marketing material, and planning and fostering public relations.
Job Responsibilities:
Weekly Tasks
- Checking Kayany’s official email frequently and reply as needed.
- Keeping an eye on all Kayany’s social media pages such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and updating them every other day with the suitable posts or uploading the newly taken photos or videos.
- Developing content, in line with the content strategy, including images, video and audio.
- Coordinating and publishing weekly, termly and annual newsletters, magazines, and yearbook both in hard and electronic format, as required.
- Promptly reporting news on the website and in the social media channels.
- Organizing and maintaining an archive (Data Warehouse) of media coverage (photos, Videos, testimonials…etc) that can be accessible for future use.
- Attending all Kayany’s events in order to take photos and videos and upgrade the social media pages.
Monthly Tasks
- Ensuring that the website and digital communications effectively convey the essence and experience of Kayany Schools and provide audiences with the information they need in a user-friendly way.
- Keeping abreast of website innovations and recommending appropriate enhancements, working with Project Manager to ensure the website’s functionality, navigation and look and feel evolve.
- Drafting and editing copy for key marketing materials including newsletters, prospectuses, the annual review, flyers and adverts.
- Acting as the School’s social media expert; reviewing, implementing and evaluating the social media strategy and policies.
- Preparing a success stories for each event or project and report them to the upper management (including photos, testimonials, etc).
- Working with the Project Manager to design digital and printed marketing materials and, designing some material in-house.
Occasionally Tasks
- Working with staff to organize and promote back to school campaign, open days, speech day and entrance test day and other pupil-centered events designed to promote Kayany Schools.
- Producing marketing material for Kayany’s events including program, maps, brochure, and presentations.
- Securing and analyzing parent feedback (testimonials) from events to promote the marketing strategy.
- Gather press clippings and add them either to the year book or issue press books.
Physical Demands:
- Field visits play a large part in the incumbent’s activities; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities as and when needed and sometimes with short notice.
