Instructor of Basic Digital Skills for Innovative Vocational Program

The Tech for Food Digital Skills Training Program aims to maximize vulnerable communities’ livelihood and build sustainable capacity opportunities through tailored programs that tap into a growing Digital Economy. The program, managed by AUB-CCECS in collaboration with the Kayany Foundation and funded by the World Food Programme, provides basic and advanced Digital Skills and English for IT training for disadvantaged Syrian refugee and host community youth in Beirut, Mount Lebanon and in the Bekaa. Local instructors deliver the training under the supervision of the AUB faculty. 

This is a great opportunity to strengthen the capacity of people in need and improve your own skills through professional development. Curriculum includes computer and internet literacy, MS Office, and Google applications. The instructor must be skilled in the curriculum content and able to transmit the material effectively to students with varying levels of prior education.  The curriculum content and presentation slides are provided by AUB.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Being very comfortable with the curriculum and presenting the material to the class of up to 25 students ages 17-32
  • Reviewing the curriculum and updating it as per needs of the training
  • Preparing and supervising practice work and projects to be solved by the students during class
  • Tracking attendance
  • Preparing and grading assignments
  • Giving feedback and communicating effectively with students at all levels of technological understanding
  • Coordinating with other instructors and the curriculum supervisor
  • Reporting as requested

EXPERIENCE & DESIRED SKILLS

  • Comfortably capable of teaching in both Arabic and English.
  • Knowledge and ability to teach the curriculum content, including: basic computer skills, internet literacy, Microsoft Office overview and practice, Adobe overview, Photoshop practice, and Web Development.
  • Demonstrating acute professionalism in dealing with others, as well as students of different profiles and backgrounds.
  • Leading by example in terms of attitude and behavior (being on time, highest standards of excellence, going the extra mile) to prepare the students for the real work world in hard and soft skills.
