Physical Therapist

General Goal: The Physical Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing physical therapy interventions to improve mobility, functional ability, and overall physical well-being of beneficiaries/patients. The role focuses on rehabilitation, prevention of physical impairments, and promotion of independence through evidence-based therapeutic practices.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive physical and functional assessments for students referred by teachers, inclusion teams, or school administration.
  • Contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
  • Develop individualized physical therapy plans aligned with educational goals and school routines.
  • Provide direct therapy sessions (individual and group) during school hours.
  • Implement therapeutic exercises, mobility training, posture correction, and motor skill development activities.
  • Recommend and support the use of assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and mobility aids.
  • Support inclusive education by adapting physical activities and classroom seating to meet students’ needs.
  • Promote students’ independence, participation, and safety within school routines.
  • Work closely with inclusion officer, psychologists, and school administration.
  • Coordinate with parents/caregivers to ensure continuity of therapy at home.
  • Monitor student progress and update goals regularly.
  • Prepare periodic reports for school administration, inclusion teams, or donors (if applicable).
  • Participate in data collection and monitoring & evaluation activities.

Qualifications, Skills, and Personal Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy / Physiotherapy (Master’s degree is an advantage).
  • Valid professional license or registration to practice.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in pediatric, school-based, or rehabilitation settings (preferred).
  • Experience working with children with disabilities or special educational needs is an asset.
  • Strong pediatric assessment and intervention skills.
  • Ability to link physical therapy goals with educational outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Child-centered, inclusive, and ethical approach.
  • Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
  • Cultural sensitivity and patience.
