Vacancy: Interviewer/Researcher

The Knowledge Workshop (KW) is searching for experienced interviewers/researchers.

KW is a feminist organization based in Beirut working on storytelling and oral history, researching women’s stories and histories, and developing feminist publications and resources. To view KW’s oral history interviews, visit our website: https://alwarsha.org/storytelling-oral-history/

The interviewer/researcher will be conducting oral history interviews with women of different ages and nationalities (Lebanese and Palestinian) living in Lebanon. Depending on the project, KW might encourage interviewers/researchers to conduct some interviews with women in their communities, and to personalize their relationship to the oral history topic.

Timeframe for this position: July 30-September 30, 2025.

Interviewers/Researchers are expected to conduct 3-5 oral history interviews, including the indexing and summary of each interview. Remuneration depends on the number of interviews conducted.

Qualifications:

Researchers must have:

• A degree in Humanities or Social Sciences (or equivalent experience in conducting research and oral history)
• Experience in conducting interviews and working on research projects that include oral history
• Residency in Lebanon is necessary for this position, although a Lebanese nationality is not required.
• Fluency in Arabic is required for this position.

The interviewer/researcher will conduct interviews for KW’s ongoing projects, especially for its work on the women in the 1940s in Lebanon.
