The USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) Program provides voluntary technical assistance to farmers, farm groups, and agribusinesses in Lebanon to promote sustainable capacity building. The program relies on the expertise of US volunteers from diverse backgrounds—farms, universities, cooperatives, private agribusinesses, nonprofit farm organizations and others—to respond to the needs of Lebanese farmers, organizations, and agribusiness. F2F Volunteers work on a wide range of activities, providing assistance to host organizations—private farmers, cooperatives, community groups, rural credit institutions, extension services, input supply firms, agribusinesses, and others. Assignments may involve technology transfer, business planning, organizational strengthening, marketing or environmental conservation. The Lebanon office for Land O’Lakes will identify hosts and plan assignments, provide logistics and translation services when needed, and follow up with host organizations on implementation of volunteer recommendations.
The project driver will be responsible for providing vehicle transportation services for Land O’Lakes employees, visitors, and F2F volunteers. This position is responsible for passenger safety and security while traveling. In addition to driving staff, the individual will be called upon to perform project errands as directed. This position will also monitor vehicle maintenance and cleanliness, and perform limited maintenance.
Specific tasks include:
Drive the project vehicles on scheduled and approved routes.
Perform routine vehicle inspection and maintenance including checking the seat belts, oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, and water and tire pressures.
Read and understand specific vehicle operating manuals (download information from the internet as necessary) and is able to operate every device in the vehicle.
Ensure that the Vehicle Log Book is properly recorded and maintained for each trip.
Liaise with the Administrative Assistant to ensure the vehicle documents and insurance are up to date and properly documented.
Provide information and other general assistance to project staff, volunteers, and designated partners.
Keep assigned vehicle clean inside and outside.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and other records that are requested from management.
Perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicles as required.
Coordinate the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruptions.
Offer suggestions to the project’s leadership on how to further increase the efficiency of the vehicle operations with the aim of reducing costs with little-to-no impacts on vehicle operations (safeguarding of organizational assets).
Qualifications:
Valid and clean driving license.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position.
Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle safely and appropriately in accordance with the laws of Lebanon and policies of Land O’Lakes.
Ability to read and interpret road signs.
Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Arabic (orally and written);
Ability to prepare concise and accurate records and reports.
Extensive knowledge of the operations and features of assigned vehicle(s).
Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs and perform minor vehicle repairs.
Ability to establish effective professional relationships with program staff.
Defensive Driving Certificate desired.
