Project Overview

The Cooperative Development Activity 4 (CD4) is a $11.35M USD, 5-year (2018-2023) activity being implemented by Venture37 in Rwanda, Malawi and now Lebanon, with funding from USAID – Washington. The goal of CD4 is to advance cooperatives in all 3 countries so that they have the enabling environment, improved capacity, and resources to meet the evolving needs of their members. The work in Lebanon started as of October 2021. In Lebanon, CD4 aims to promote the capacity building of special food processing primary cooperatives, support the enabling environment and learning and sharing best practices to meet the objective of a strengthened primary agro-food processing cooperative level for women and youth in Lebanon.

 

Finance department overview.

The finance department manages all monetary procedures between Land O’Lakes Venture 37 and the affiliated party. Thus, it requires a diligent process capable to handle any challenge. The financial operations are handled by the Finance and Operations Director whose responsibility is to follow up with technical, grants and MEL teams to complement procedures for ongoing grant contributions and other allocated payments. It also entails external confidential support to assist the Finance and Operations Director in the previously mentioned tasks and responsibilities.

 

Objectives/Goals

The financial department is seeking the services of the consultant to assist the Senior Finance Assistant with some of the department operations in following up with technical, grants and MEL teams to complement procedures for ongoing grant contributions and other allocated payments. The consultant role covers all the below key activities, but does not have overall accountability for them, instead performing a supportive role in the department.

 

Key Activities

The Consultant is supposed to provide support with the below tasks:

    1. Assist the Senior Finance Assistant in daily financial operations.
    2. Assist in Maintaining monthly financial files in both hard and soft copies.
    3. Smooth functioning membership administration.
    4. Assist in Preparing and posting receipts, deposits, purchase orders, invoices, refunds, and other standard bookkeeping tasks.

 

Consultant Background, Responsibilities and Tasks

The recruited expert is expected to have the following skills and qualifications:

    1. Good writing skills
    2. Good computer skills
    3. Able to work independently

 

Period of performance

A total of maximum 4 days per week during the period of March 15th , 2024 till  June 15th , 2024 to be agreed upon with the CD4 management upon need.

 

Technical Direction and supervision

Technical directions will be provided by the Finance and Operations Director and the Senior Finance Assistant
