TL Alumni Engagement Officer

Role Summary

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program (TL) is an initiative between the U.S. Department of State’s U.S.- Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) and the Lebanese American University (LAU) for capable and highly motivated young scholars in the Middle East and North Africa.

The TL Alumni Engagement Officer is mainly responsible for strengthening and expanding the Tomorrow’s Leaders (TL) alumni network, fostering lifelong connections among graduates and between alumni and the program. The Officer designs and implements initiatives that highlight alumni achievements, sustain alumni involvement in program activities, and promote professional and civic networking opportunities. The role ensures that alumni remain engaged as mentors, advocates, and ambassadors, while also supporting institutional goals of visibility, impact, and sustainability.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategies to engage TL alumni locally, regionally, and internationally
  • Plans and coordinates alumni events, reunions, networking gatherings, and panels to foster community and professional connections
  • Establishes mentorship opportunities linking alumni with current TL students
  • Creates initiatives that encourage alumni to contribute to program development and outreach
  • Maintains and updates a comprehensive alumni database, including contact details, professional trajectories, and civic contributions
  • Tracks and documents alumni achievements, leadership roles, and impact in their home countries and beyond
  • Highlights alumni success stories through reports, newsletters, social media, and program communication channels
  • Collaborates with the TL communication officer to promote alumni visibility at institutional and external events
  • Facilitates opportunities for alumni to connect with international organizations, NGOs, and employers for career and civic engagement
  • Coordinates with MEPI, LAU, AUB, AUC, US Embassy, and other partners to strengthen the TL alumni network across the region
  • Identifies and proposes strategic collaborations that enhance alumni involvement in regional and global initiatives
  • Assesses and evaluates alumni engagement initiatives, reporting outcomes and impact to the TL Program Executive Director and M&E expert
  • Provides regular updates on alumni activities and participation levels
  • Collects feedback from alumni to inform the design of future programming and engagement strategies
  • Prepares and reports on data as requested
  • Reports periodically on the status and progress of work to the direct supervisor
  • Ensures the proper maintenance and safekeeping of personally handled documents and files
  • Stays up-to-date with industry trends and best practices relevant to the role
  • Provides backup support when needed to ensure continuity of operations
  • Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned by the direct supervisor

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, education, communication, or a related field; alumni relations or community engagement training is a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of professional work experience in alumni relations, community engagement, or program coordination
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English and Arabic
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple initiatives, and experience in event planning
  • Familiarity with social media, digital communication tools, and database management
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint…)
  • Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively across diverse teams
  • Dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service

Work Schedule

The standard work schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with possible/occasional attendance after hours and/or during weekends (or holidays) to ensure business continuity and/or support events on both campuses.
