I. About LADE
LADE is a Lebanese non-profit and non-partisan organization advocating for election integrity and fair representation as two vital pillars for a functional democracy. Since its establishment in 1996, the Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) has been heavily involved in instigating electoral reform on a national level through a set of well-designed interventions amongst which election monitoring constitutes a corner-stone for a viable parliament, where it features as a necessary tool to assess the electoral framework and propose amendments when needed. The association's early efforts reached paramount in 1998 with the implementation and management of a full-fledged campaign aiming at restoring local elections across Lebanon for the first time since the breakout of the Lebanese Civil War. Consequently, LADE’s role grew further and as a leading reformist organization. LADE’s awareness extended throughout the years to cover pre-elections, e-day and post-elections activities. Moreover, the association has been able, in a short period of time, to catch up with the academic and societal debates around media ethics and gender participation and has successfully developed a multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach to citizenship and electoral reform.
II. Job Purpose
The Communications and Media Officer will be responsible for assisting the communications department in developing and implementing LADE’s communications strategy to effectively promote the organization’s mission, values, and activities. This role involves managing media relations, crafting compelling content, overseeing social media platforms, and coordinating public outreach initiatives to support democratic election processes in Lebanon.
III. Main Tasks
1. Communications Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications plan that aligns with LADE's goals and activities.
- Ensure consistent messaging across all platforms to enhance the organization’s visibility and credibility.
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies, adjusting tactics as necessary.
2. Media Relations
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local and international media outlets.
- Draft press releases.
- Organize press conferences, media briefings, and interviews to amplify organizational priorities.
3. Social Media Management
- Create, curate, and manage content across LADE’s social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Develop and implement social media campaigns to engage audiences and promote voter awareness.
- Monitor social media analytics to track performance and optimize content strategies.
- Respond promptly to queries and comments on social media channels, fostering a positive online presence.
4. Content Creation
- Produce and oversee high-quality content for LADE’s website, social media, newsletters, and reports.
- Ensure all materials adhere to branding and messaging guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with the design team to ensure the message is visually compelling, aligned with brand guidelines, and effectively communicates the intended purpose to the target audience.
5. Public Engagement
- Assist in LADE’s campaigns to raise awareness about democratic election practices and voter rights.
- Collaborate with program teams to disseminate research findings and reports effectively.
- Represent LADE at public events, forums, and workshops.
IV. Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or media.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic and English.
- Proven experience in managing social media platforms and content management systems.
- Familiarity with Lebanon’s political and electoral context.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Creativity and the ability to craft engaging narratives.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of digital analytics tools to measure campaign performance.
