LOST is seeking to recruit a community Facilitation Officer in baalbeck
Community Facilitation Officer Responsibilities:
1. Mobilizing and facilitating.
Develop and maintain good relationships with the community;
Ensure, promote and facilitate that the principles of child protection and child participation are integrated into all project activities;
Meet frequently with the staff to organize project implementation planning and monitor execution including discussing and making improvements to projects;
Coordinate and follow up to ensure optimal participation of the technical officers especially related to competency and capacity building;
Participate in the development of plans to guide the competency and capacity building process including the retention of knowledge and skills;
Result: Active participation in projects as a result of good mobilization and facilitation.
2. Involvement of Children, youth, parents and caregivers
Ensure that the activities are done in a safe, clean, hazard free;
Ensure that all beneficiaries have the opportunity to participate in the program and project activities in a non-discriminatory as well as age and gender sensitive and appropriate way;
Encourage participants to be actively involved
Ensure that children feel safe, comfortable and respected;
Ensure that all children and caregivers are aware of any accountability/ complaint mechanisms
Ensure that parents/caregivers get frequent feedback about their child’s participation;
Result: children, youth, parents, and other caregivers are active participants in all aspects of projects including decision making, monitoring and evaluation.
3. Monitoring activities
Continuously collaborate with the staff to monitor and ensure the safety of all project venues;
In collaboration with the project staff, monitor the project activities in the field;
Report on the alignment of the implemented activities with the child safety policy;
Make all efforts possible to ensure that the targeted number is reached
Result: Needed changes to projects are identified and implemented to ensure project quality including efficiency.
4. Handling Administration activities
Support the Project Management team in fulfilling their responsibilities;
In collaboration with the staff, collect and document the needed information for the database for research, monitoring and evaluation purposes;
Prepare and write weekly, biweekly or monthly reports as required by the supervisor;
Identify, inform and discuss any issues with his/her supervisor on a timely basis;
Result: Administration is handled in a way to ensure proper reporting, filing, and data entry
5. Participating in program and project design
Make suggestions for changes to the project design;
Collect information necessary for the design of programmes and projects
Knowledge and Experience
Degree in social sciences , sociology or any other related field
At least 3 years of relevant experience
Preferably previous experience working with children/refugees/vulnerable populations using a community-based approach
Competencies
Good facilitation skills
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong communication skills
Good computer skills
Fluency in Arabic
Basic English fluency is an asset
