LOST is seeking a highly experienced Senior Consultant in Nutrition or Food Science to support its entrepreneurship and livelihoods initiatives. The consultant will provide technical guidance in food product development within the LOST Incubator, with a focus on enhancing product quality, safety, and supporting sustainable small-scale food production.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or a related discipline
- At least 10 years of professional experience in food product development, nutrition, or food technology
- Demonstrated success in developing and scaling food products (e.g., energy bars or similar items)
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, packaging, labeling, and shelf-life requirements
- Experience in training, mentoring, and building the capacity of small producers or food startups
- Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the formulation, testing, and improvement of energy bars and other nutritious food products
- Design and implement quality assurance protocols for production processes
- Supervise pilot production runs and ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Develop standardized recipes, process documentation, and quality control procedures
- Support the creation of compliant and market-ready packaging, branding, and labeling
- Deliver hands-on training to incubator participants on food safety, production techniques, and innovation
- Provide technical advice on equipment needs, production facility setup, and raw material sourcing
- Offer market insights to entrepreneurs, including customer trends and product positioning strategies
