Main Role
The Social Worker will be working the LRC MS Centers. He/ she works with people to support them through difficult times and to ensure that vulnerable people, children and adults have access to health care. In addition, the social worker provides support in enabling individuals, groups and communities to help themselves improve their lives by working with their surroundings. The Social Worker conducts assessments, and develops interventions to solve social and personal problems to create social change. Moreover, the social worker contributes to the implementation and monitoring of specific projects/programs within the center as needed.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Performs initial screening and evaluation of individuals, groups and communities for vulnerability in relation to set criteria to assess and review their situation.
- Collaborates with members of the health team, to assure individual and communities ‘health psychosocial and socioeconomics needs are addressed wherever possible.
- Counsels patients in individual and group sessions to help them overcome dependencies, recover from problems, and adjust to life.
- Collaborates and refers cases as necessary to LRC services or any external NGOs as needed
- Organizes support groups or counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting themselves and community under PSS program.
- Recognizes patients with underlying special cases as mental illness, and provides/makes necessary referrals.
- Provides communities activities relevant to respond the needs.
- Participates in all trainings and meetings needed.
- Leads in participatory approach the community based work with stakeholders of the community
- Recruits and builds up a network of community volunteers, prepares, defines, training and facilitates trainings for volunteers.
