Objectives of the role:
Social workers work with people with disabilities and their families that are affected by different issues as a result from the current multi-crisis situation. Cases will be handled by phone or in person. Social workers are in charge of the identification of the persons with disabilities in need for the ECA, assessing and gathering relevant information about their cases, providing crisis intervention, and contacting and making referrals to other agencies and services. Social workers will be in direct communication with the selected persons with disabilities and their families, implementing the awareness program and ensure people were able to access the services without challenges and obstacles.
A key to succeeding in this role as we are working on cash emergency is the ability to stay calm and empathize with persons with disabilities and their families when they are upset. Social workers should also be aware of others’ reactions and understand why they react as they do.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the process of the needs assessment by facilitating the preparation of home visits, interviews and focus group discussion for the consultant as needed.
- Collect data about persons with disabilities that can be targeted through this project: home visits or on demand interviews. Home visit seeks to verify visible living conditions of the family, particularly housing quality, public services and presence of durable goods based on Individual/Household assessment.
- Identify eligibility once data are collected. The eligibility criteria will be set based on the findings of the needs assessment that will be conducted beginning of the project.
- Assist persons with disabilities and their families in receiving services by telephone and in person.
- Get persons with disabilities and their families involved in the project activities.
- Offer information and supporting persons with disabilities and their families.
- Ensure Persons with disabilities/families receive the payments without any obstacles.
- Conduct the life skills program after training and under supervision of the GBV program officer.
- Refer any identified WGwDs at risk of GBV to the GBV case worker.
- Organize of regular follow-up calls to persons with disabilities/families to assess and address any challenges, and referral to local initiatives in the region or additional services when needed.
- Prepare and conduct information awareness sessions as planned within the project.
- Maintain accurate records and preparing reports.
- Participate in training, supervision, and meetings.
- Perform any other duty as directed by the supervisor.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
- Experience working with Persons with disabilities, proof of refugee context is an additional.
- Ability to give full attention to what social service persons/families are saying, understand the points being made, ask questions, and not interrupt inappropriately.
- Awareness of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
- Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
- Proficient in word, excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to stay calm and empathize with clients when they are upset.
- Able to develop an intervention plan.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention.
