Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the process of the needs assessment by facilitating the preparation of home visits, interviews and focus group discussions and support the assessment with the occupational therapist as needed.
- Collect data about persons with disabilities that can be targeted through this project: home visits or on-demand interviews. The home visit seeks to verify visible living conditions of the family, socio-economic situation, public services, and presence of durable goods based on Individual/Household assessment.
- Assist persons with disabilities and their families in receiving services by telephone and in person.
- Get targeted persons and persons with disabilities and their families involved in the project activities.
- Offer information and support targeted persons/persons with disabilities and their families.
- Conduct the life skills/conflict resolution training program after training.
- Organize regular follow-up calls to persons with disabilities/families to assess and address any challenges, and referral to local initiatives in the region or additional services when needed.
- Prepare and conduct information awareness sessions as planned within the project.
- Maintain accurate records and prepared reports.
- Participate in training, supervision, and meetings.
- Perform any other duty as directed by the supervisor.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working with Persons with disabilities, and proof of refugee context is an additional.
- Ability to give full attention to what social service persons/families are saying, understand the points being made, ask questions, and not interrupt inappropriately.
- Awareness of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
- Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.
- Proficient in word, excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to stay calm and empathize with clients when they are upset.
- Able to develop an intervention plan.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention.
