Awareness Sessions Facilitator

1. Background

The Lebanese Democratic Women’s Gathering (RDFL) is implementing a UN Trust Fund-supported initiative aiming to prevent and respond to gender-based violence against women and girls in Lebanon. The program includes awareness-raising, legal empowerment, psychosocial support, and economic resilience.

The project seeks facilitators to conduct structured community-based awareness sessions on GBV, SRHR, legal rights, and available protection services, targeting women and 1girls’ survivors and/or at risk of GBV, Lebanese and refugee women and adolescent girls.

2. Objective of the Assignment

To plan and deliver inclusive, interactive, and culturally sensitive awareness sessions for women and girls, aiming to increase their knowledge of rights, GBV prevention, protection pathways, and promote gender equality.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1. Planning and Preparation

  • Develop session outlines and materials using existing curricula or in coordination with the Head of GBV.
  • Ensure adaptation of messages to the audience's age, literacy level, and cultural context.

3.2. Facilitation

  • Conduct awareness sessions (8 sessions per location over 4 to 6 months), ensuring active participation and feedback mechanisms.
  • Apply participatory techniques (storytelling, role plays, visual aids) to increase engagement.
  • Promote safety, confidentiality, and non-judgmental dialogue in group settings.

3.3. Reporting and Coordination

  • Document attendance, pre/post evaluations, and participant feedback.
  • Share session summaries, observations, and risks with the GBV Officer.
  • Flag protection concerns and referrals as per safeguarding protocols.

4. Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Gender Studies, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of experience facilitating GBV or women-focused awareness sessions.
  • Strong knowledge of GBV principles, SRHR, and legal rights frameworks.
  • Ability to engage vulnerable groups with empathy and without discrimination.
  • Fluency in Arabic is required; English is a strong asset.
  • Female candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
