Psychosocial Support (PSS) Expert

1. Background

RDFL is implementing a 4-year, UN Trust Fund–supported initiative to combat gender-based violence (GBV) in Lebanon. The project centers on survivor-led storytelling, legal empowerment, and community mobilization. Through transitional shelters, legal aid, psychosocial support, and economic empowerment, RDFL aims to reach over 38,000 primary, secondary and indirect beneficiaries, including Lebanese and Syrian refugee women and girls.

2. Objective of the Assignment

To design and implement a tailored, trauma-informed Art Therapy intervention as part of PSS support for women and girls (15+) survivors of GBV.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1. Program Design & Planning:

  • Under the supervision of the Head of GBV, design contextually appropriate art therapy curriculum/manual aligned with GBV guiding principles (Safety, Confidentiality, Respect, Non-Discrimination).
  • Integrate healing-centered engagement, mindfulness, and body-mind techniques suitable for trauma survivors.
  • Develop a session guide (6 sessions) with clear goals, structure, materials needed, and facilitation techniques.

3.2. Implementation:

  • Deliver direct group and/or individual sessions for survivors in coordination with GBV case manager or shelter coordinator.
  • Ensure safe spaces and Do No Harm principles are upheld during all sessions.
  • Incorporate monitoring tools to capture emotional well-being progress and client feedback.

3.3. Technical Support:

  • Adapt approaches for adolescents and adult women (ages between 15 and 50 years old), ensuring age-appropriate content.
  • Ensure strong linkages with Case Management services, and develop internal referral mechanisms for high-risk cases.

3.4. Reporting and Documentation:

  • Submit progress reports, including success stories, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Contribute to donor reporting or project evaluations, as needed.
  • Ensure proper documentation, case anonymization, and data protection.

4. Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Psychology, Art Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, or related social sciences.
  • Certification or formal training in Art Therapy.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in MHPSS or GBV programming, including 2 years with vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GBV principles, trauma healing approaches, and intersectionality.
  • Strong facilitation, empathy, and emotional regulation skills.
  • Experience working in humanitarian settings or with displaced communities is a plus.
  • Arabic and English fluency required.
