Over a period of three days/week, the media officer duties include:

  • Draft short press releases or quotes or social media messages (for breaking news) in English or Arabic under the supervision of the Campaigning Senior Coordinator.
  • Manage social media posts for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram YouTube under the supervision of the Campaigning Senior Coordinator for campaigning content, analysis or as part of broader comms projects.
  • Design posts for social media with relevant content on women’s rights aligned with RDFL’s communication strategy.
  • Manage the drafting and uploading engaging web content (story pages, explainers, features)
  • Assist with monitoring and reporting of RDFL’s media and social media impact for specific projects when requested.
  • Maintain a database of media organizations and contacts within them
  • Developing content for dissemination via press releases, social media, websites, and other distribution channels in coordination with the campaigning senior coordinator.
  • Monitor the preparation of RDFL’s communication tools from conceptualization to production, annual report, brochures, fact sheets.
  • Assist in all preparations for national events related to RDFL’s campaigns.
  • Assist in implementing all communication and advocacy activities under the supervision of  the campaigning Senior Coordinator.
  • Assist the Campaigning Senior Coordinator in other relevant tasks.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism,

- Skills:

• Substantial, relevant experience (2-3 years) in similar role in journalism or communication, and an understanding of human rights/gender issues.

• Fluency in English and Arabic with strong writing skills in both languages

• Ability to draft in modern standard Arabic for a media audience

• Experience in the use of social media networks, to promote content or campaigns materials

• Experience in working with design software programs such as Illustrator and Photoshop.

• Familiarity with Web Content Management Systems (e.g., Wordpress)

• Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills

• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities and deadlines

• Experience in media monitoring, analysis and reporting
