DESCRIPTION
RDFL is seeking a Media Officer (Part-Time) to support its communications and advocacy work. Working three days per week, the Media Officer reports directly to the Head of Department and plays a key role in drafting, publishing, and monitoring content that advances women’s rights and ensures visibility of RDFL’s activities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage social media posts for X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and the website as part of broader communications projects.
- Design posts for social media with relevant content on women’s rights aligned with RDFL’s communication strategy and annual agenda.
- Draft and upload engaging web content (story pages, explainers, features).
- Prepare monthly media monitoring reports with key metrics (reach, engagement, sentiment) when requested.
- Develop and draft content for dissemination (press releases, quotes, social media messages, website articles, and other distribution channels) in English and Arabic, including breaking news, under the supervision and approval of the Head of Department.
- Publish all RDFL’s activities across relevant media and communication channels, ensuring visibility and alignment with RDFL’s communication strategy.
- Support logistics, media coverage, and documentation for national events related to RDFL’s campaigns.
- Assist in implementing communication and advocacy activities under the supervision of the Head of Department.
- Assist the Head of Department in other relevant tasks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Communications or Journalism.
Skills
- Substantial, relevant experience (2–3 years) in journalism or communication, with an understanding of human rights/gender issues.
- Fluency in English and Arabic with strong writing skills in both languages.
- Ability to draft in Modern Standard Arabic for a media audience.
- Experience using social media networks to promote content or campaign materials.
- Experience with design software programs such as Illustrator or Canva.
- Familiarity with Web Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience in media monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
