Job Statement The Lebanon Mountain Trail Association (LMTA) was established in October 2007 to develop, protect and promote the Lebanon Mountain Trail (LMT). LMTA is a non-profit, non-political and secular organization. Its vision is to maintain the 470km path for hiking and recreation, while protecting and conserving the cultural and natural heritage along the trail, and providing opportunities for sustainable income. The LMT Association is seeking a motivated Executive Director to assume lead responsibility for the Association. The candidate will particularly be responsible for the following: General Responsibilities Provide leadership and management to ensure that LMTA is well-respected, self-sufficient and financially autonomous Manage the organization's infrastructure including planning, finances, use of technology, and program development and evaluation Represent the LMTA and its mission to relevant stakeholders including partners, funders, community leaders and participate in relevant functions and high-visibility events Other Responsibilities          I.            Operations Lead the implementation of LMTA’s strategy and recommend adjustments to the strategy (and related work plan) as needed while staying fully aligned with LMTA’s mission and values Supervise the development of LMTA programs and activities and make sure that they are aligned with the LMTA  strategy and responsive to conservation, education, and community development aspirations of the LMTA and trailside communities Ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly, safely and at maximum productivity and develop and monitor work planning Enforce compliance to and update internal policies and procedures Provide working team and staff with guidance and support for their respective tasks and hold frequent meetings Support operations and administration of (the elected) Board by advising and informing Board members, interfacing between Board and staff, preparing Board meetings, etc. Support operations and administration of LMTA committees. Provide guidance to make sure that the committee work plans are aligned with the LMTA programs and strategy Promote awareness of the LMTA to community at large in order to recruit new members and volunteers to assist in the implementation of LMTA programs and activities Identify and approach potential donors/philanthropists who may be interested in funding programs and activities designedby the LMTA to serve LMTA goals and objectives Keep track of and review agreements and MOUs with partner organizations, service providers and vendors as well as program and activity reports, information flow and organizational planning       II.            Human Resources Manage the work plans of LMTA staff and monitor their progress Ensure that LMTA’s personnel policies and all relevant procedures are followed (daily time and attendance, timesheets, payroll, travel request, leaves, etc.) Plan annual staff appraisal (performance evaluation) with input from other staff and board members; make sure that the Performance Evaluation Report is completed and filed Identify opportunities for professional advancement of LMTA staff and facilitate such advancement through training and other exposure Review the organizational chart of the LMTA and its staffing needs and recommend staffing adjustments to the Board, as needed (including new hires and/or discharges)      III.            Finance  Manage financial resources prudently and efficiently, including cash flow, and keep the Board apprised of its cash status Prepare the yearly budget in coordination with the (elected) Board and follow-up regularly on its implementation Make sure that all accounting procedures are followed and implemented by LMTA staff under the guidance of its accountant Protect the assets of the LMTA against fraud and financial abuse Provide support in the development and implementation of a fund-raising plan and approach potential donors where needed  Profile Required  Natural energy and commitment to the conservation and responsible tourism causes. Being an outdoor adventurer/ hiker and a nature-lover is a plus Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to communicate with different types of people (to the staff within the organization,  to the Board, to partners and governmental representatives, and to the local community and public) Team player, engaging, pro-active, and strong personality At least 10 years of experience in program management in community development, and/or conservation sector, sustainable tourism, and any other similar/ relevant field within a business environment and/ or NGO organizations University degree in natural science, environment studies, tourism business management, or  any other relevant degree A good balance of basic program and team management skills, including experience in managing diverse people and budgets Excellent organizational skills and project management skills, experience in fundraising and writing proposals is a plus Ability to work under pressure, to prioritize, and to handle a variety of different tasks Language proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English required, French is a plus Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, etc.).
