Communications & Outreach Specialist

I. INTRODUCTION

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014 that aims to expand, manage, and protect Lebanon’s forests and landscapes through a community-based approach. We work on building resilient communities to environmental threats, increasing environmental awareness and education, advocating for forest conservation, and advancing research in the forestry field.

II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

LRI is currently recruiting a Communications & Outreach Specialist with a minimum of 5 years of experience to help the organization meet its need for various communication duties to reflect the NGO activities and objectives, and respond to projects' needs. The Communications & Outreach Specialist at Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is responsible for planning, designing and executing a program to inform and educate the public, media, and other specified audiences about LRI's activities and accomplishments. The incumbent will also work with LRI's Graphic Designer and team members to design and execute outreach activities that further increase the outcomes and impact of LRI's work.

The Communications & Outreach Specialist is expected to perform the following duties:

  • Coordinate the NGO communication activities.
  • Prepare content for visual and printed communication material and coordinate closely with in-house graphic designer and videography and printing suppliers to produce a variety of material to reflect the NGO activities and objectives and respond to project needs.
  • Develop on a regular basis newsletter, press releases, fact sheets and other written material to reflect the NGO activities and projects.
  • Coordinate closely with local media channels to disseminate LRI’s communication material as widely as possible.
  • Coordinate with LRI team on a set social media calendar and standards to acquire input from the field and develop regular social media posts that reflect LRI’s activities in different regions of Lebanon and different fields of work.
  • Update LRI’s website regularly with new activities and resources and Manage LRI’s Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts.
  • Follow up on social media channels reach and audience comments and advise on new trends.
  • Plan and coordinate national outreach campaigns, events and activities with partners, municipalities, and private sector to raise awareness on specific topics related to the NGO objectives.
  • Conduct training sessions on communication to LRI team and occasionally under projects to community members.
  • Visit the field to collect success stories and interview beneficiaries and partners in the community.
  • Plan activities that fit within the strategy and coordinate the update of the strategy when due.
  • Coordinate with the team to develop material and a designed booth that can be used in outreach in different locations.
  • Ensuring LRI’s outreach materials are consistent and in line with LRI’s and the donors’ branding and marketing guidelines in all site signages, promotional items, posters, branding and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Update calendar of events on monthly basis.
  • Update the list of media on a yearly basis.
  • Undertake administrative tasks as needed (purchase requests, meeting minutes, etc...).
  • Participate in team meetings and Project Managers meetings and coordinate activities with all team members to ensure smooth work progress. 

III. REQUIREMENTS

The Communications & Outreach Specialist should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience working in communications & outreach or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, to advance the organization's mission and goals.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing a branding strategy. 

  • Demonstrated experience in report writing, event planning, and social media content development. Experience in video and photography is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, oral communications, and presentation skills.

  • Flexibility and readiness to perform field visits.
