Planting Specialist

I. INTRODUCTION

Project Background Information

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014. LRI started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). LRI's mission is to restore Lebanon's native forests and to instill commitment to reforestation and wildfire prevention and response, through capacity building of local communities and organizations.

The project is operated by LRI’s offices in Jdeideh, but the position is located in Anjar. 

II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

In partnership with Houch Moussa-Anjar Municipality , LRI is seeking a Planting Specialist for Anjar Eco-Park. The planting specialist will be based in Anjar to help manage the planting activities and nursery maintenance work within the park.  

The Planting Specialist is expected to perform the following duties:

• Follow up on planting activities in the two nurseries of the park;
• Follow up on nursery maintenance work;
• Follow up on the strawberry and other vegetable picking activities;
• Support in implementation of restoration and conservation projects as requested; and
• Support in the kid’s kitchen and gardening activities as needed.

III. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

The Planting Specialist should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:

• Basic knowledge on environmental conservation and biodiversity;
• At least 2 years of experience in planting vegetables, herbs and trees;
• Basic knowledge in greenhouse maintenance;
• Passion for planting;
• Good physical fitness; and
• English, Arabic and Armenian are preferred.
