1. Background
The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014 and had started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). One of LRI’s currently implemented project is the “Livelihoods in Forestry” project funded by USAID. The project aims at improving sustainable forestry activities through the establishment of models for economic forestry and forest‐related rural tourism.
2. Purpose of the Position
LRI seeks a Procurement Assistant – Intern for the period of 2 months from April 2021 till May, 2021. The Procurement Intern will help the project team ensure smooth work progress and compliance with LRI requirements.
Procurement Assistant – Intern will be reporting to the Procurement & Grants Manager and will be working closely with all team members and is expected to perform the following duties:
- Procurement and Grants management:
- Assist in the procurement process (contact providers, receive quotations, develop selection memos and follow up on deliveries of the goods) as per the procurement policy;
- Ensuring good and proper documentation and filing of the procurement documentation;
- Ensuring proper automation of the procurement transaction on the ERP (item creation, supplier quotation validation, etc.);
- Identifying new providers;
- Communicate with the team to get all the requested products requirement; and
- Ensuring proper filing of Grants documentation.
- Office infrastructure support:
- Handling team IT requests and coordinating with IT service provider on solving them.
3. Qualifications
The Procurement Assistant – Intern should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:
- Degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics, OR Business Administration degree, or any related field;
- Knowledge in IT basic network and systems is a plus;
- Strong interpersonal skills and negotiation abilities;
- Strong planning and organization skills, trong verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong situation analysis capabilities and problem-solving skills;
- Active Listening skills;
- Good time-management and attention to detail; and
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
