I. INTRODUCTION
Project Background Information
The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014. LRI started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). LRI's mission is to restore Lebanon's native forests and to instill commitment to reforestation and wildfire prevention and response, through capacity building of local communities and organizations.
The project is operated by LRI’s offices in Jdeideh.
II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
LRI seeks a full-time Project Coordinator for the project for the period of 6 months from February 2020 till August 2020, renewable based on available funding and performance. The Project Coordinator is expected to coordinate project activities with the different site supervisors and report back to donors on project progress.
The Project Coordinator is expected to perform the following duties:
- Support in the development of a detailed implementation plan with timeline;
- Map work areas and prepare project maps by cluster;
- Coordinate with site supervisors to ensure proper implementation of activities;
- Draft progress reports to be reviewed by project manager;
- Conduct periodic site visits to check on work progress and work quality;
- Coordinate when needed with municipalities to ensure smooth implementation; and
- Support the Project Manager in project-related tasks and coordinate with donors during Project Manager’s absence.
III. REQUIREMENTS
The Project Coordinator should possess the following competencies, skills, and experience:
- More than 2 years of experience in project coordination /field work;
- Basic knowledge in mapping, GIS and remote sensing experience is a plus;
- Experience working with Lebanese rural communities is a plus;
- Experience in environmental issues;
- Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills;
- Excellent reporting and presentation skills;
- Willingness to travel outside Beirut; and
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
