Trainer for Guiding and Safety in Ecotourism
I. INTRODUCTION
Project Background Information
The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the United States Forest Service (USFS) that provides technical assistance and institutional support for sustainable native tree reforestation and wildfire management in support of community stability and social cohesion. With administrative offices in Beirut, LRI technical experts manage a multi-year work program of activities throughout Lebanon in collaboration with grassroots organizations and local communities. One of the components of this project works on bringing together diverse communities and supporting them to provide stewardship over their shared social and environmental corridors.
Corridor Planning Committee for the North (CPC)
Under the goal of building community stewardship, Corridor Planning Committees were created from representatives of municipalities and communities within each designated social and environmental corridor. Those include one corridor in the Rachaya region grouping 12 municipalities, one in the Shouf biosphere area, and one in the North connecting high elevation towns from Ehden to Jaj. The North Corridor Planning Committee was launched in November 2016 and has since built its own strategies and identified capacity development needs for the region. One identified need is that of a training on guiding and safety on ecotouristic trails, for which LRI is hereby seeking a trainer.
