ROLE PURPOSE: The Case worker will be responsible for implementing activities related to case management targeting vulnerable children and families including refugees, returnees and children in host communities.
Responsibilities:
The key roles and responsibilities for the Case Worker are:
- Conduct initial assessments for child protection cases.
- Based on the needs identified through the assessment, develop a case management plan, through child participation and according to the best interest of the child such that cases are closed within a set time frame.
- Identify, refer and follow up on all services and ensure action points are carried out .
- Manage cases in line with the national practical guidelines and Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs).
- Regularly update the database to ensure comprehensive record of each case.
- Monitor, guide, advice and support children and caregivers throughout the duration of the stay of the children.
- Participate in weekly case management and coordination meetings.
- Provide information on existing social services and how to access them.
- Conduct focused psycho-social support sessions with children engaged in early marriage, child labor or children in need of focused pss support.
- Submit reports weekly reports concerning implemented outreach activities, case load and related challenged.
- Maintain files, registers, computer databases and records in paper and electronic format.
- Coordinate with the Partners Case management team for planning, responding and dealing with all cases.
- Work as a member of a team ensuring fluid communication of relevant information in order to make sure that work with individual cases is of quality.
- Work across different contexts, including local communities, informal settlements, community spaces etc with a particular focus on outreach work and support in identification, referral and case management of the most vulnerable children (in line with organizational strategy.
- Conduct home visits and monitor progress of each child;
- In agreement with Project supervisor and Project Manager, perform other required duties within reason (in line with skills and experience).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: - Experience in working with at-risk children and families, experience in case management in the emergency response desirable.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of children at all times.
- Flexibility in working overtime when needed;
- Experience in project and team management (desirable-
- Understanding of social welfare systems and child protection mechanism.
- Ability to write weekly and monthly reports, develop schedules and collect data.
- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work flexible hours in the event of major cases.
