Communication Officer

Purpose

The communication officer is responsible for implementing priorities and activities of Legal Agenda’s communication and advocacy ambitions and managing its digital channels. S/he uses several tools to plan digital campaigns and report on the performance of those campaigns. S/he plays a central role in driving communication initiatives to optimize the visibility and outreach of the Legal Agenda ensuring the highest impact.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Legal Agenda’s social media platforms, creating and publishing engaging content in line with Legal Agenda’s advocacy priorities, and ensuring the right knowledge reaches defined audiences. Monitor and evaluate outcomes using analytics and other reporting tools.
  • Maintain and contribute to developing Legal Agenda’s website and ensure that the platform enables users to learn more about and get involved with the Legal Agenda. Monitor the effectiveness of the user experience via analytics and SEOs.
  • Maximize digital engagement through fostering two-way communication with audiences across platforms. Implement, develop, and deliver digital strategies to attract new, and benefit loyal audiences.
  • Facilitate the creation of an editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely campaigns.
  • Coordinate the production, and post-production of online and offline multimedia communication and advocacy materials and manage Legal Agenda’s visual assets database.
  • Coordinate the work of creatives including graphic designers, artists, videographers, and video editors while ensuring that outputs are of a high standard and respond to the defined objectives.
  • Draft and/or edits text for communication products, including infographics, scripts, newsletters and other.
  • Monitor publicly accessible information sources and digital conversations, including active daily tracking and reporting on public affairs and themes of interest to Legal Agenda.
  • Manage Legal Agenda’s public outreach using a variety of tools. Plan and develop a variety of outreach activities, including and not limited to, news conferences and press briefings, and arranges interviews with Legal Agenda spokespeople.
  • Support communication-related training and coaching for non-communication staff members of the Legal Agenda.

Skills and experience

  • Advanced knowledge of tools and software to measure data across different platforms.
  • Solid knowledge on the dynamics of SEO/SEM and solid knowledge about the procedures of optimizing content for running successful digital campaigns.
  • Creativity, innovation, and advanced experience creating high-quality and SEO-friendly content ensuring effective engagement of audiences.
  • Ability to process and analyze complex information and repurpose it for non-specialist audiences in clear, concise, interesting, and relevant formats.
  • Ability to identify public affairs issues and advise on communication opportunities and risks.
  • Demonstrated command of key teamwork skills including active listening, conflict resolution, consensus building, and delegation.
  • Problem-solving skills, continuously looking for creative ways to solve problems and proactively seeking to improve approaches and tools.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, advertising, public relations, or related field.

Work Experience

Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the field of communications in a reputable organization, ideally within a media, public or nonprofit institution.

Languages

Fluent in Arabic and English, spoken and written.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates includes an assessment exercise. Successful candidates will be invited to an interview.
