Employment Basis: Full Time Basis

Location: Legal Agenda Beirut Office – National Visits might be required

Job Duration: 3 months’ probation / 1 year contract renewable based on the availability of funds

Responsibilities:  

The Senior Legal Researcher will contribute to various projects implemented by the Legal Agenda, through research, writing and litigation. The projects to which the researcher may be assigned include, but are not limited to, the Judicial Observatory for Judicial Independence and Transparency, The Civil Observatory for Parliament Monitoring, and The Strategic Litigation Department. The Researcher will be in charge of the following tasks, depending on the assigned project:

Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data collected from trial observation and parliament monitoring and delivering critical and informative commentaries in this regard;

Developing research and data collection methodology and tools;

Commenting on draft laws, analyzing and highlighting their social and economic impact;

Contributing to the annual reports on judicial and legislative developments;

Writing texts related to draft laws or counterpart proposals;

Contributing to on-going and new litigation cases, through drafting legal memos, legal research and counseling.

Developing strategic framework studies for public interest litigation cases.

Relevant qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Lebanese law.

Master’s degree (in Law or any related field) OR at least five years experience in legal research or litigation.

High-level proficiency in Arabic and English (reading, writing and speaking). Knowledge of French is highly desirable.

Writing, reporting and critical analytical skills. Publications are a plus.

An understanding of and commitment to Legal Agenda’s vision and work in Lebanon and the region.

Lawyer candidates registered at the Beirut or Tripoli Bar Associations are highly encouraged to apply.

Working hours: 09.00 AM – 06.00 PM from Monday to Friday.
