The Legal Agenda is seeking to hire a researcher within the implementation of the project entitled “Civil observatory for the independence and transparency of the judiciary”.
The Legal Agenda is a Beirut-based non-governmental non-profit organization that addresses issues of legal activism, reform, and transformation in the context of social and political change in the Arab world.
Responsibilities
I- Scope of work
The researcher shall conduct research, documentation and writing described in the Project activities, relevant to the Project’s main objectives, namely (1) increased independence and transparency of the judiciary and (2) vulnerable groups are judicially empowered and able to co-build their cases before Lebanese courts. This will entail:
- Collecting and analyzing sentences and judicial files related to vulnerable groups and to press offenses
- Collecting and commenting on judicial decisions of particular interest,
- Contributing to the writing of the Legal Agenda magazine, the Legal Agenda supplement, and website content on issues falling within the scope of the present research
Related skills and experience:
- Experience: graduate in law or in social science and at least 2 years experience
- Excellent spoken and written Arabic, English and French
- Writing, reporting and analytical skills
