POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounting Officer will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and maintain the organization's financial record-keeping system, including scanning and filing all relevant documentation.
- Reconcile financial transactions, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, receipt vouchers and general ledger entries, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist the finance manager in the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes by organizing and categorizing financial data and assisting in journal entry preparation.
- Ensure compliance with finance & accounting policies, procedures, and regulations by maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Assist the finance manager in the coordination of financial audits and tax filings by preparing and organizing relevant documentation.
- Collaborate with departments to support financial planning and budgeting activities as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards & regulations and implement updates as necessary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s or Technical degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or demonstrated success in relevant professional fields and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Technically proficient with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues.
- Proficiency in working with different accounting programs.
- Excellent knowledge in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience working with NGOs is a plus.
