The Shelter and Settlement Advisor will support the response team in reviewing the final assessment plans, provide training to assessment team members on key things to look for, and conduct random spot checks during the repair work and after completion to ensure quality control. In addition, the S&S Advisor may be called upon when the structural integrity of a building is in doubt by the assessment team. The Advisor is expected to be knowledgeable about structural deficiencies, and work with local authorities and experts to make a determination whether rehabilitation is advised or permissible, and the overall building is safe, before planned repair work can move forward.
The key deliverables are:
1. Participate in coordination meetings with Emergency Program Manager (EPM), Regional Technical Advisor (RTA) for Program Quality, and Humanitarian Assistance (HA) team members.
2. Coordinate with EPM, RTA, and HA to design curriculum and lead technical sessions as part of training assessment team conducting shelter assessments.
3. Certify structural integrity when required
4. Conduct random spot checks during repair work and in follow-up after repairs are completed
Timeline and Duration:
This role is anticipated to be approximately 30-35 days over a 6 month project period.
