Call for Expressions of Interest for Universities – Support to Agroecology-Related Master’s Theses

Mada, under the AFD co-funded project “From Farm to Kitchen – Building a Resilient Food System in Lebanon” implemented in partnership with CCFD-Terre Solidaire and Nation Station, is launching an activity to support Master’s theses on agroecology in Lebanon. This initiative seeks to promote context-specific research, strengthen local academic capacities, and contribute to the growing body of knowledge on agroecology as bot a science/practice and a movement in the country.

As a first step, Mada is inviting relevant departments and faculities at universities offering Master’s programs in agriculture/agroecology-related topics to fill out a survey, noting Mada will be supporting both scientific and socio-economic research related to agroecology. The aim is to identify interested universities and gather preliminary information about their programs and capacity to engage in agroecology research. Please apply through the following link: https://ee.kobotoolbox.org/x/ByhalyjX

Based on the survey responses and a selective process, Mada will contact selected universities for further discussions. A second phase will then invite Master’s students to apply for small grants to conduct their research. Mada’s support will include technical guidance, access to demonstration plots, and coverage of eligible costs related to thesis implementation.

We encourage universities to take part in this process to strengthen academic engagement in agroecology and contribute to building a more resilient food system in Lebanon.
