A key component of the activity is to improve the capacities of 100 vulnerable households in North and Akkar Governorates, enabling activation of Income Generating Activities (IGAs) across various sectors, including livestock management, agriculture, food processing and dairy production.
This activity targets vulnerable households with support to IGA aiming at overcoming immediate shocks during the quest for more sustainable solutions including long-term employment. A holistic package of support will be provided, including in-kind grants and tailored coaching, to help these households develop viable IGAs, increase income that can foster self-reliance and resilience.
Through close collaboration with each household’s focal point, the Coach will design and deliver personalized one-on-one coaching sessions that respond to the specific needs, challenges, and market context of each beneficiary while building on their existing capacities and experience. Each household will receive three (3) coaching sessions.
Job Summary
The Dairy Production Coach will play a key role in providing specialized technical and business development coaching to beneficiaries engaged in dairy production IGAs. The aim is to ensure the IGA has potential and is competitive through strengthening beneficiaries’ technical capacities, improve product quality, enhance profitability, and ensure long-term sustainability.
The Coach will work directly with household focal points to jointly develop spending plans, improve financial management, marketing, pricing skills, and provide hands-on technical guidance on dairy production processes and standards. The sessions will be tailored to each household’s needs and context, ensuring that activities are viable, competitive, and aligned with local market demand.
The program will include 57 one-on-one sessions for 19 households, each lasting approximately 2 to 3 hours, conducted in the household’s locations across Akkar, Tripoli, and Miniyeh-Danniyeh.
The coach is responsible for implementing 3 sessions per household located at: Akkar (Mohamara, Bebnine, Ain Dahab, Berqayel, Borj Arab, El Hissa, Fneideq, Jeidet Qaytaa, and Tal Hayat) and Minnieh-Dannieh (Sfire, Btermaz and Bahnine).
Mada reserves the right to adjust the number of sessions and assigned households as needed.
Tasks and responsibilities
The Dairy Production Coach will:
- Conduct a comprehensive review of the household validation assessment data, including analysis of available equipment, access to resources, and household production and technical capacities. Based on the findings, develop a tailored coaching program plan that addresses identified needs, builds on existing capacities, and aligns with project objectives.
- Coach beneficiaries on the following topics included but not limited to:
- Milk collection and handling best practices, including hygiene protocols and storage methods to preserve milk quality and prevent contamination.
- Best practices in cow and / or goat nutrition and feeding for optimal milk yield.
- Developing value-added dairy products (such as cheese, yogurt, labneh, and ghee) to diversify production and increase profitability.
- Packaging, labeling, and refrigeration techniques to maintain quality, minimize spoilage, and improve shelf life.
- Cost-effective preservation methods and support basic food safety management systems.
- Financial planning, cost control, pricing strategies, and marketing to enhance market competitiveness.
- Building market linkages with suppliers, cooperatives, and local buyers to ensure sustainable income streams.
- Topics may be adapted as needed, depending on the household’s business and the type of IGA.
- Conduct 3 one-on-one coaching sessions per each household, covering both technical and business aspects.
- Support both the household and the project team in identifying the appropriate tools and equipment required to enhance household capacities. Provide detailed technical specifications for each item to be procured through the in-kind grant allocated by the project, ensuring alignment with household needs, project objectives, and procurement standards.
- Monitor the progress of beneficiaries, providing actionable feedback and identifying opportunities for scaling or diversification.
Deliverables
- IGA proposed coaching program – A summary of each household’s dairy IGA, outlining resources, technical and business gaps, and proposed coaching sessions.
- Individual Business plan including the spending Plans– Tailored plans per household integrating both items’ quantities and detailed technical specifications and estimated price as well the business description, market opportunities, challenges and other relevant sections.
- Attendance Sheets – Documented participation for all coaching sessions.
- Final Recommendations Report (template provided by Mada) – overview of sessions, progress, summary of successful practices and suggestions for scaling up dairy IGAs and future support needs.
Qualifications
- Specialization or degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Animal Production, Agriculture Engineering, Dairy Technology, Agribusiness, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in dairy production, processing, and/or business development coaching or training, preferably in rural or vulnerable contexts.
- Proven expertise in supporting small-scale dairy producers or agri-businesses, particularly in areas such as milk hygiene, product processing, milk production and processing, and business development and marketing.
- Strong understanding of local dairy practices, local market dynamics in Akkar, Tripoli, and Mennieh-Dannieh.
- Ability to provide practical, actionable, and results-oriented coaching tailored to small producers.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, and training skills with the ability to work effectively with vulnerable populations.
- Experience working with NGOs or development programs is an asset.
- Strong reporting and analytical skills; ability to prepare professional reports in English.
Time Frame and Duration
The selected Coach is expected to deliver the required sessions starting from 08 April 2026 (estimated) and for a period of 10 consecutive weeks.
Sessions will be conducted during regular working days (five days per week), with two sessions often scheduled on the same day.
