Job Brief.
Mada is seeking local consultant to provide food safety training for 5 individual small business groups who received endowment funds, located in Akkar and Tripoli with the following training topics, including but not limited to;
- Practical knowledge on fundamental principles of reducing postharvest loss/ wastage of nutritious perishable food commodities
- A better understanding of value addition of perishable nutritious food commodities through keeping place hygiene and sanitation
- Improved processing and preservation methods
- Food processing materials, and equipment (i.e cleaning, maximum power etcc),
- Nutritious facts,
- Core values for food safety, and its regulations,
- HACCP – Hazard Analysis and critical control points,
- ISO Internal Organization for Standardization norms,
The consultant is needed to support the intervention by providing production continuity, coaching and advisory services, to strengthen their production skills ensuring a high level of food and product hygiene and safety for better placement of food products in the market.
The selected consultant will provide the mentioned training topics and work closely with the woman who received endowment funds to create a healthy training environment while using interactive training approaches and provide support when necessary. Furthermore, Mada project team will work in close cooperation with the selected trainer to ensure that training is adequately delivered.
The coach consultant will be responsible to provide modular courses in food hygiene and sanitation, principles of food safety for food inspectors. The consultancy is short-term; he/she will provide 4 days (3 hours per day) training on field for 5 groups.
The consultant shall conduct pre and post assessment of trainee’s knowledge on internal and external quality monitoring system for all training sesssions.
Responsibilities.
The activities below describe the responsibilities of the training consultant, in addition to the deliverables per activity and the corresponding timeline.
I - Identification of needs:
- Planning meeting with Mada’s project manager to discuss the current situation of the targeted selected group in addition to their strengths, weakness etc.. based on the application forms and the one-on-one interviews.
- Agree with Mada on the training approach to be used with the trainees.
Deliverables:
- Detailed training plan including outlines and timeline.
- Procurement demand list of training equipment/material (if required). The list of items required should be submitted at least 7 working days before the first day of training.
II – Provision of training materials designed based on the identified needs
Deliverables:
- Training materials including detailed power point presentations and exercises relevant to each training outline.
Note: training materials should be submitted and delivered in Arabic.
III – Implementation of the food safety training through the delivery of 4 days’ sessions on site for two groups in Parallel
- Provision of 4 training sessions per group. One session is relevant to 3 hours, total of 12 hours.
- Traveling to the training locations in Akkar (Mohammara, Bebnine and Sahel akkar) and North Lebanon (El Qobbe and Der ammar)
- Preparation of pre and post-tests questions relevant to reach training session provided by the consultant in order to monitor the progress of trainees.
- Correction of pre and post-tests conducted by the trainees.
Deliverables:
- Attendance sheets for each session.
- Pre and post-tests questions for each phase
- Hard copies of Pre and post-tests corrected and grades filled in template provided by Mada.
IV – Development and provision of training reports.
- Provision of one training report, after the completion of training.
- The report should be of two to three pagers.
- Report should include: completed activities, progress of the beneficiaries, level of participation, attendance, difficulties, challenges, strengths and weaknesses relevant to the area of topics provided, pending issues and planned activities for the upcoming phase training sessions.
Deliverables:
- One training report
The consultant selected must accept to conduct online training if needed.
Qualifications.
- Bachelor degree in food production, agro-alimentary, agriculture or any relevant field.
- 3 to 4 years of experience in delivering similar training.
- Demonstrated experience in food safety.
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- High English level is a must.
