Terms of reference (ToR) – Graphic designer consultant
Organization background and mission brief
Mada is a non-partisan, non-sectarian Lebanese NGO, established and registered in 2000 in Lebanon which aims to reinforce the relationship between local communities and their natural environment for the satisfaction of their substantial needs.
Mada association in collaboration with ARCS as Project Leader, currently has funding from the Italian Agency for International Cooperation to implement a 30 months’ project entitled “Promoting Vulnerable Women’s Economic and Social Empowerment in Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt” – AID 011528”.
The project aims at supporting vulnerable women of hos communities and refugees, in Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt, in setting off on the path towards social and economic empowerment assisting them with the creation of real opportunity for job and income generation initiatives (IGA). This will be realized through specific trainings intended to strengthen/launch their own business.
Job brief
Mada is looking for a Graphic Designer to support the women in the provision and development of visibility materials. The 35 targeted women, are working in food processing, dairy production, sweets, agriculture, pastries and meals preparation.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- To sit with each woman individually and to understand the business approach (or to attend with the business development coach the session related to visibility materials, the session is scheduled by the coach for a period of around 1 hour);
- To develop with each woman individually, the visibility materials she requested for her business. The materials include but not limited to:
- Business card,
- Labels and products stickers (different design),
- Logos creation and design,
- Menu design for online pages and in shop,
- Stickers,
- Packaging stickers,
- Other branding materials
- Advice the woman on strategies to engage target clients;
- The graphic designer has to prepare draft materials and to correct and/or modify the designs as discussed and preferred by the beneficiary;
- Amend designs after feedback,
- Use the appropriate colors and layouts for each graphic;
- To sit with each woman between 3 and 5 sessions in order to finalize all the needed information that will be included in the visibility materials;
- Keep up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools and technologies,
The selected graphic designer has to share with Mada’s team and the woman the visibility materials, as well as giving Mada the full right to use those materials;
The graphic designer will provide the mentioned deliverables and materials, as well as working closely with the woman who received endowment funds to create her visibility materials. Furthermore, Mada project team will work in close cooperation with the selected graphic designer to ensure that materials are adequately prepared.
Mission timeline
The graphic designer has to accept working online when needed. He / She expected to start on January 2022.
Main work interfaces
- Internal interfaces: Project manager, Field officer, coach, executive director;
- External interfaces: the woman beneficiary.
Education and knowledge required
- Bachelor degree in graphic design, fine arts, media production, or related field;
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles;
- Strong portfolio of illustrations or other graphics;
- Proven experience in the design, development of visibility materials for small businesses;
- Strong communication skills;
- Creativity, originality and teamwork;
- Organization, ability to juggle multiple projects;
- Access to printing service is preferable;
- Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
Terms of payment and advantages
- Service fees (including transportation)
Payments will be made at once, upon the completion of visibility materials.
The graphic designer will provide Mada with an invoice including her/his fiscal number in order to receive the payment, if she/he has a fiscal number. If the graphic designer does not have a fiscal number, Mada will be responsible for complying with the competent tax authorities therefore a 7.5% of the total amount received by the trainer will be deducted to be paid by Mada to cover the graphic designer’s taxes.

- Personal Curriculum Vitae
- A cover letter that includes a detailed description of past work in conducting similar training to demonstrate their qualifications.
