Trainer for Water Management for Smallholder Farmers - GFFO2024TRI04

Background

Mada Association is seeking qualified Trainer for Water Management to provide training to smallholder farmers in Akkar under the GFFO-funded project ‘Strengthening local climate-sensitive and universal WASH capacities using and disseminating the Green Humanitarian Aid approach, implemented by Mada Association in partnership with arche noVa.

The project targets vulnerable communities and stakeholders with inclusive WASH services and capacity building that take into account the impacts of climate and environmental risks, to ensure they are able to prepare for, anticipate and provide humanitarian assistance in response to extreme weather events.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The Trainer selected will provide training to one group of farmers located in Borj Arab and Mohamara, Akkar.

Main tasks:

  1. Develop the training materials (PowerPoint presentations) in line with the topics mentioned in the table below. Mada will review the deliverables and provide comments and feedback, after which the Trainer will be requested to submit final revised and adjusted versions.
  2. Provision of 4 training sessions (3 theoretical and 1 practical). One session is equivalent to 3 hours (20 minutes break included).

The three theoretical sessions will be conducted at a venue, and the trainer will facilitate the practical session at one of the farmer plots located in Akkar (Borj Arab or Mohamara).

  1. Prepare and conduct pre and post-tests to monitor participants’ progress following the training.
  2. Monitor the attendance of participants and report any issues or dropouts to Mada’s focal point.
  3. At the end of the training sessions, provide Mada’s Project Manager with a final report (template provided by Mada) that includes: progress of farmers knowledge, attendance, challenges, recommendations on further support needed and specific areas of focus required for the skills development of the participants.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in agriculture, plant production or relevant fields,
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in delivering similar trainings,
  • Demonstrated experience in Water Management,
  • Time management, good organizational and communication skills, ability to be flexible,
  • Strong interpersonal, reporting and facilitation skills

Time Frame/Duration

The mission includes development of training materials and delivery of 4 training sessions (3 theoretical and 1 practical). The selected Trainer is expected to start developing the training materials in February 2024 and delivering the training in Mid-April 2024 for 1 group of farmers located in Borj Arab and Mohammara, Akkar.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must submit the following documents to vacancy@mada.org.lb specifying the full title of the consultancy in the subject of the email:

  1. Personal Curriculum Vitae, including previous work references,
  2. A Cover Letter that includes a detailed description of past work in conducting similar trainings to demonstrate their qualifications,
  3. Financial offer calculated per training session (3 hours) including transportation to training locations (theoretical and practical), and the development of training materials.

Payments will be made upon the completion of the training materials, the theoretical and practical sessions, field visit and delivery of report, pre and post-tests, and daily attendance sheets as hard copies. The Trainer will provide Mada with an invoice including her/his fiscal number in order to receive the payment, if she/he has a fiscal number. If the trainer does not have a fiscal number, Mada will be responsible for complying with the competent tax authorities, and therefore 7.5% of the total amount received by the trainer will be deducted to be paid by Mada to cover the trainer’s taxes.

All submissions not following these guidelines will be automatically rejected.
