Background
The Community Mobilizer works under AICS and EU funded projects titled ‘Supporting Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Jurd al Qaita’, implemented by Mada in partnership with the Municipality of Fano, COSPE and COOPI- Cooperazione Internazionale. The project aims to enhance sustainable solid waste management practices through an integrated approach that combines capacity building, and active community participation.
Within this framework, Mada is primarily responsible for leading community mobilization and awareness-raising activities to promote behavioral change and encourage the adoption of sound waste management practices. The Community Mobilizer will play a key role in engaging with local communities, facilitating outreach activities, and ensuring the effective delivery of the awareness campaign.
The position reports directly to the Project Manager and requires regular coordination with partners, local authorities, and other stakeholders involved in project implementation.
Main Responsibilities- Contribute to the fine-tuning of the awareness campaign strategy and then its implementation with the partners involved in this component.
- Liaise with local authorities, partners, community and the project team to guarantee smooth implementation.
- Be constantly present on field at all project sites to ensure that community is involved and properly mobilized.
- Ensure proper communication to communities on the dates and venues of awareness raising sessions and distributions.
- Provide training sessions as required to various project stakeholders.
- Provide correct information to the beneficiaries on the scope and strategy of the project.
- Follow up on all logistics needed for the identified tasks.
Reporting and Learning
- Provide the Project Manager with monthly and/or weekly reports based on needs.
- Collect data from the field as required to feed into project reports.
- Participate actively in team meetings to discuss challenges, mitigations, and learnings.
- Ensure that any matter that requires attention is reported for direct action.
Additional Tasks
- Develop and maintain positive and fruitful relationships with relevant stakeholders, including municipalities, communities, etc.
- Support the Project Manager with any field tasks as needed.
Minimum qualification
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with NGOs in a relevant field position (e.g., community mobilizer, field officer, social worker, or similar).
- Proven experience in executing awareness campaigns, mobilizing communities, and facilitating engagement with local authorities and community stakeholders.
- Educational background in social work, social sciences, rural development, or environmental studies is required.
- Previous fieldwork experience in Akkar or similar areas is strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse community groups.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Fluency in Arabic; proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.
- Good computer literacy and ability to use digital tools for reporting and coordination.
