  • Prepare patient and chart for operation, when needed.
  • Receive patients from recovery room.
  • Provide needed teaching to patients and family members.
  • Assist in discharge or transfer of patients.
  • Respond to emergency medical cases with promptness and proper judgment.
  • Know how to use department medical equipment’s.
  • Observe patients’ response to therapy and note all changes in medical status and report to In Charge Midwife and physician when needed.
  • Start an infusion, calculate, and maintain its proper rate of flow.
  • Participate in planning team members duties in collaboration within Charge Midwife
  • Consult with physicians to plan needed care for patients, in coordination within Charge Midwife
  • Prepare accurate report on patients’ cases and conditions.
  • Administer direct prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum patient services and primary care to low-to-moderate risk obstetrical and gynecological patients.
  • Consult primary obstetrician and co-manage comprehensive care for high-risk patients.
  • Institute lifesaving emergency measures pending obstetrician arrival.
  • Care for newborn following delivery
  • Apply proper identification measures (according to hospital policy) to mother and baby after delivery.
  • Advise and care for women before and after pregnancy.
  • Help women give birth.
  • Teach mothers breast feeding and childcare techniques.
