School Counselor - Bekaa Marej

  • Plans, develops and manages overall school counseling services following the guidelines of SAWA Counseling Unit.
  • Prepares files for new students that include information about student academic history, health status, achievement path, activities, hobbies, problems, or any disturbances.
  • Diagnoses the cases of emotional and behavioral disorders to develop remedial plans for such cases and provides the conditions and means that help avoid behavioral deviations, identifies the underlying causes behind them, and addresses them effectively.
  • Coordinates with teachers in dealing with behavioral and psychological problems of a social or educational nature, and problems of student educational failure.
  • Works on discovering the educational issues/problems that hinder the students' progress and the factors that lead to them, as well as discovering the mental and psychological deviations and deals with them in a preventive and therapeutic manner.
  • Follows-up on students’ cases that need intensive care as well as follow-up on the outstanding and high-ability students to maintain their performance.
  • Helps students overcome their problems in speech disorders and difficulties, and psychological problems, while using logical reasoning and specific psychological treatment.
  • Supports teachers through modern educational techniques and methods to facilitate students' learning and to build their knowledge, skills, and scientific competencies in accordance with the established curricula and specific educational goals.
  • Participates in the process of social interaction in promoting the moral and intellectual values and building the human character of the learner.
  • Utilizes counseling theories and techniques to help each student achieve academic, career, and personal/social success.
  • Organizes individual and collective meetings between school staff and parents to discuss their children's problems.
  • Helps students set realistic goals adequate with their abilities and establishes the needed plans to achieve these goals.
  • Diagnoses and develops specific recommendations for each case and methods of dealing with school delays.
  • Recognizes diversity and serves as an advocate to students to answer their questions and concerns.
  • Helps students choose the study programs that suit their aptitudes and abilities and to set individual counseling and career guidance sessions, in order to provide the proper guidance on group and individual levels.
  • Maintains the association’s assets and fixtures in good conditions.
  • Maintains the privacy and confidentiality of work and any information he/she obtains through his/her job.

- Knowledge of counseling techniques, academic planning, and career guidance.

- Proficiency in individual and group counseling techniques.
