MISSION CONTEXT
The Animators work in the child friendly space for recreational activities, sport activities and awareness sessions with children. Strong coordination with other actors in the area of intervention is the pillar of this program and the referral mechanism will guarantee the provision of adequate services from others partners. The action aims at strengthening awareness and advocacy efforts towards increased access of most the vulnerable (mainly children and women alone) within humanitarian actors’ coverage in the areas of intervention.
Furthermore, as part of a longer term strategy aiming at supporting and reinforcing resilience of local stakeholders, the action includes a strong capacity building & strengthening component targeting SDC and local stakeholders on protection, child protection, referral pathway and mechanism, conflict resolution etc.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
•Provide social support to Syrian children refugees and their families at Child friendly spaces level;
•Work directly with the Program Manager and Social workers team, to develop intervention plans and follow up
•Identify new children to be assessed at HH level;
•Collect information about children through interviews, observation, and social activities
•Collect data and referrals from the field level (e.g. Municipalities, L/INGOs, Focal Points, UNHCR);
•Organize daily the recreational activities;
•Be updated on the most popular sport activities and on everything that will most please to children.
•prepare all the necessary for the various activities well in advance, paying attention to details;
•Contribute to create a positive atmosphere interacting constructively with colleagues and children.
•Communicating efficiently with superiors, conveying to them ideas and new proposals according to daily observation in dealing with children.
•Cooperating with the Chief Children Animator to organize and propose sport activities.
•Establish a calendar for each activity and the children concerned;
•Pay attention to every tension among the children referring to line manager and intervening in a proper manner
•Verify the beneficiaries list and presence;
•Contribute to spread the messages to the community and beneficiaries;
•Ensure the link with authority and community;
•Identify the need of the beneficiaries and the community;
•Awareness raising on the services available to the families and children in area of intervention
•Attend weekly meetings;
•Report daily the site supervisor;
•Ensure the correct use of tools, material and games, keep everything in an efficient way.
REPORTING
Reports directly to line manager, the Project Coordinator/line manager. S/he will submit the following reports at the end of each week:
•Centralize all information gathered in the field and consolidate a daily report (into the proper reporting format) to be delivered to the Project Coordinator;
•The Narrative Report which includes: the number of beneficiaries, actions taken, number activities conducted, awareness raising activities, number of people attending the session with breakdown per age group and gender;
•Weekly update – numbers of beneficiaries segregated by age, gender, needs and vulnerability (i.e. living in very poor conditions and other);
•Provide regular reporting on your activities to the PM and Programme Coordinator upon his/her solicitation
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
• Always respect of beneficiaries’ confidentiality
• Respect and promote MF’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of MF’s policies amongst the teams or partners.
• Address needs and requests in a professional way.
• Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others.
• Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers
• Always respect a refusal of treatment.
PERSON QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications, experience and competences
•University degree in Social Work, Social Art.
•Min 1 year experience in Social Work, Social Art
•Basic understanding of humanitarian principles and humanitarian processes.
•Experience within another INGO desired, but not mandatory
•Excellent command of English and Arabic (speaking and writing), French an asset
•Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office, especially Excel and Word Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in environment with tight deadlines;
•Experience in managing sport competitions
•Experience in art (theater, music, etc.)
•Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues, proven problem solving and organizational skills.
