JOB DESCRIPTION Makhzoumi Foundation Context:   Makhzoumi Foundation is a private Lebanese non-profit organization, established in 1997. Our ultimate mission is to empower Lebanese citizens - through improving their socioeconomic status, healthcare provisions, and environmental awareness, and by encouraging their quest for education - thereby enabling them to independently develop and progress their local communities, and to subsequently enhance the country’s civil society on a national scale.   For the last three years, in response to the on-going refugee crisis in Lebanon, the Makhzoumi Foundation Relief and Humanitarian Services Unit has been working from our Beirut office to deliver emergency and recovery projects in Hygiene, Shelter, Protection, Health and Livelihood Recovery sectors. The Makhzoumi Foundation is now expanding its remit through a new project to offer new services under the Protection Sector Beginning in with development of services in Beirut & Mount Lebanon. Makhzoumi Foundation will be partnering with IRC and Unicef to establish teams that will provide Case Management, Psychosocial Support & Community mobilization activities to children who are at risk, families in need and women and girls who are at risk of Sexual & Gender Based Violence.   Job Overview/Summary: The MF Protection programme is seeking to recruit Community Mobilisers to be responsible for the direct implementation of a range of activities in informal settlements. Core activities will include dissemination of information, assessment of risks faced by children, women and girls in the targeted communities and development of response strategies and capacity building of community members. This will involve building trusting relationships with the community, community mobilization, awareness sessions and gathering information about all other organizations working in the site with the help of beneficiaries, local partners or volunteers. Major Responsibilities:   Programme: Identify and assess communities to be targeted by Mobile Teams Organize, plan and implement information and awareness sessions in the community to disseminate information about available services and refugee’s entitlements, ensuring  all activities are delivered in a timely manner To be present on the different sites and respond to beneficiaries’ queries with good knowledge of relevant information ·Identify and engage key “gatekeepers” and community focal points amongst the refugee and host communities and maintain regular contact with them both to ensure access of MF teams and to promote participation of the community in activities ·Develop capacity building plans, organize and co-facilitate training for community focal points to provide them with critical skills around safety assessment, advocacy, communication and leadership. ·Identify beneficiaries requiring case management and ensure safe referral to the case management team Conduct regular safety assessments and community mapping exercises to identify key risks faced by women and girls within their community Support focal points and other community members in developing advocacy messages and strategies to address and/or mitigate risks faced by children, women and girls ·Identify and ensure referral of beneficiaries requiring PSS activities ·Support activities run by the volunteers Ensure good coordination with local partners including facilitating referral of identified needs to humanitarian organizations and other service providers, ensuring follow up and feedback to the community. Collect and provide daily data on the activities organized and ensure that all relevant forms are duly filled ·Work in close collaboration with case workers and other MF staff ·Participate in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality PSS and case management, and reporting requirements are followed ·Raise any concern or challenge to the Senior Volunteers Officer and/or PSS Manager Work in compliance with and respect of the principles of humanitarian protection and confidentiality, working with refugee and host communities with sensitivity   Key Working Relationships:   Position Reports to: Community Outreach Team Leader Indirect Reporting: CP/SGBV  Team Leaders, Protection Coordinator Other Internal and/or external contacts: Internal: Volunteers and Protection Programme staff in the field   External: local partners, community leaders, municipalities, service providers     Job Requirements: Education: Degree in social science or pedagogy preferable Work Experience: Minimum 6 months work experience working or volunteering in direct contact with community members Experience working in NGO is a plus Experience in working in a cross-cultural environment preferable  Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: Experience in working with children and caregivers, or women and girls, and organizing activities Ability to engage with community members in an open manner, maintain confidentiality and respect. Clear understanding of gender inequality, and issues surrounding violence against women and girls Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoys working in the field Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children Good communication and interpersonal skills Language Skills:  Fluency in written and spoken Arabic & English Certificates or Licenses: Proficient in Word and excel   Working Environment:  Field based with some office work The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on the project needs.
