Project Summary:
MSI is a key partner in the Quality Instruction Towards Access and Basic education Improvement (QITABI) Project, which is led by World Learning. QITABI will run from September 2014 through September 2018 and combines a crisis response and development approach to expand equitable access to education and improve learning outcomes for children. MSI’s role is in four areas: 1) collecting and analyzing data on children’s reading levels by implementing early grade reading assessments; 2) conducting surveys on teacher’s knowledge of reading instruction; 3) designing and implementing an early warning system for children at risk of not learning to read; and 4) holding policy workshops based on the findings of the reading assessments and the reading instruction surveys.
MSI will conduct an early grade reading assessment (EGRA ) for the QITABI project. It will be carried out in 30 public schools throughout Lebanon and will target students in Grades 2 and 3 .

Position Summary:
MSI will contract enumerators to conduct reading assessments to students in primary public schools in Lebanon . The enumerators will be responsible for administering EGRA subtasks to Grades 2 and 3 students using tablets. They will be required to travel across all of Lebanon during the data collection period (transportation to the schools across Lebanon will be provided by MSI). Prior to field deployment, enumerators will follow a training session on the assessment content and administration methodology.
The enumerators are expected to be contracted for approximately 8 working days, from 19 to 31 October 2017, approximately.
Responsibilities:
Participate in a training session on the standardized administration of the assessment prior to the start of the data collection.
Administer the assessment to Grades 2 and 3 students across in public schools Lebanon using tablets.
Ensure the random selection of the students to be assessed in each school.
Test 20 students per school per day, targeting an equal number of boys and girls.
Participate in daily feedback sessions with the Quality Control Officers after the completion of the data collection.
Qualifications :
Native speakers of Arabic with excellent reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
Academic background in education, psychology, social sciences or relevant field preferred.
Ability to establish positive rapport with young children (6 to 9 years old).
Ability to travel to training sites and schools across various regions of Lebanon.
Previous experience in administering EGRA tools in Lebanese public schools is required.
Advanced proficiency in English or French preferred.
