OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Medair’s team in Lebanon provides refugee families with essential items and assist with improving tented shelters and poor housing conditions. In addition, Medair complements these Shelter activities with critical None food items distributions, a GIS mapping project and a health project supporting social development centers.
This position is to support the Field Communications Officer (FCO), who manages all field, external, and internal communications for the Syria response programme. Communications activities include beneficiary communication, internal communication, and project support across the programme. External visitors and media are also hosted by the FCO for exposure and private funding purposes.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Internal Communication
Interview teams to provide up-to-date project summaries and information
Attend staff meetings and report news back to the FCO
Host discussion groups with other staff to discuss mitigation of community tensions, communication gaps, and how to incorporate visibility into field projects
Conduct beneficiary interviews for each project to ensure there are stories and photos for the entire programme in Zahle
Create a calendar of programme events updated each week. Suggest possible press releases based on project activities and programme changes
Project Support:
Ensure proper visibility and branding in collaboration with the FCO for all projects in Zahle
Conduct staff trainings and inductions on Medair, field communications, and media training.
Beneficiary Communication:
Help design signage for field teams
Create and implement feedback mechanisms to evaluate services, communication, and participation among beneficiaries
Direct support to FCO:
Fulfil requests for programme updates, drafts for external publications, etc.
Provide photography support when necessary
Provide video support when necessary
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Work experience in Communications.
Confident translating between written and spoken English and Arabic
Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Illustrator, and Social Media.
Photography skills essential, Videography,Adobe CS5 Programmes skills an advantage
Able to liaise with team members and work independently,
Able to communicate effectively within different groups and cultures
Adaptable and able to work in office, field-sites and in some high-profile settings
