Role and Responsibilities Working as an important member of a diverse team, the driver supports the running of the Medair Beirut and Zahle bases and its projects with driving staff and supplies to locations, maintain the vehicle allocated as per Medair guidelines and assist with procurement and other logistical processes.    Project Overview The conflict in Syria has erupted into a full-scale civil war endangering lives in almost every community in the country. Desperate families, caught in the crossfire, are leaving everything behind and fleeing into neighbouring countries. Lebanon, one of these countries, has received a large influx of refugees from Syria. To assist the arriving Syrian refugees, Medair’s team in Lebanon intends to implement an emergency shelter project with cash for work and mapping activities in the Bekaa Valley.   Medair Medair brings life-saving relief and rehabilitation in disasters, conflict areas, and other crises by working alongside the most vulnerable. Founded in 1989, Medair’s unwavering commitment continues to bring hope to the world’s most vulnerable.   Workplace Starting Date Contract Details Zahle and Beirut, Lebanon ASAP until 31.12.2013     Key Activity Areas Vehicle Control: Responsibility for driving, with ultimate care and security, project staff to locations where Medair implements its work and transporting project related supplies to required locations Vehicle Maintenance: Daily checks, weekly checks and general maintenance and cleanness of the allocated Medair vehicle as per Medair guidelines Base Support: Provide assistance for base operations: maintenance, repairs, other logistics processes.   Qualifications Valid Driver’s licence with clean record. Basic mechanic training/knowledge    Languages Strong working knowledge of Arabic and English (spoken and written)   Experience / Competencies   3 year accident –free driving, 4X4 driving experience Base logistics management experience desirable experience in NGO work desirable Work experience in the Central Bekaa Valley region of Lebanon. Strong communication skills Strong character traits-adaptability, ability to handle stress, sensitivity, honesty, integrity
