Finance Assistant - 1 Month Cover

PROJECT OVERVIEW Medair’s team in Lebanon provides refugee families with essential items and assist with improving tented shelters and poor housing conditions. In addition, Medair complements these shelter activities with critical NFI distributions, a WASH component and support for primary health care clinics. The finance assistant supports the busy team with essential transactions.  RESPONSIBILITIES: Finances and Accounting Carry out the day-to-day accounting functions of the programme including, but not limited to: -      Managing in-location cash, ensuring sufficient amounts are available at all times and that necessary security measures are in place and are being followed -      Conducting regular cash reconciliations, verifying amounts held and reporting any discrepancies -      Paying supplier invoices either directly or in conjunction with colleagues and in accordance with agreements made -      Paying staff salaries and allowances as agreed, ensuring that all required statutory deductions are made and subsequently paid to the appropriate authorities -      Supporting colleagues in cash handling and financial transactions, providing coaching and guidance as required -      Ensuring all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with the Medair guidelines and procedures and any donor requirements  Administrative support -       Carry out photocopying, filing and scanning tasks related to finance documents as required. Quality & Financial Management -       Be aware of the potential for loss or fraud in logistical activities and procedures. -       Pro-actively work to prevent such occurrences by working ensuring adherence to Medair guidelines on fraud prevention with relevant line managers to improve transparency and to ensure the best use of Medair assets and resources. -       Work within Medair’s recognised procedures in the area of finance and quality management. PERSON SPECIFICATION University degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance Management Minimum 1 year Post-qualification professional or practical experience. Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook Enjoys a challenge and works hard to achieve objectives, passionate about serving the poor, self-motivated and enthusiastic Team-player with good inter-personal skills, willing to share tasks  Creative, flexible and open-minded in all matters.  Commitment to best practice and ability to problem solve. Ability to translate between spoken and written Arabic and English.
