GIS Assistant

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Management

  1. Create (Digitise), edit, and prepare layers and geodatabases from satellite maps according to the SOPs
  2. Create, modify, and maintain GIS layers and databases.
  3. Draw and ensure maps are annotated and compiled with the correct information.
  4. Ensure data meets appropriate data accuracy and content standards for quality assurance and quality control.
  5. Manage and monitor data collected by Medair team.
  6. Conduct field visit to test and evaluates updates and changes.
  7. Ensure proper archiving of project data complying with Data Protection and ICT policy Procedures.
  8. Assist the team to update mobile phone application after any change

Communication

  1. Coordinate and communicate data collection with Field data collectors
  2. Communicate with the Senior GIS officer to discuss mapping plans and any issues
  3. Report to Senior GIS IM Officer on SOPs, updates and training that would be needed
  4. Report to the IT team any application or device failure

Teamwork

  1. Processing data and graphics requests from shelter team members
  2. Willing to support IM Team and share workloads where possible
  3. Work where required to help the various activities carried out by Medair

 

General

    • Be flexible, willing to assist in other areas of work as relevant and needed
    • Maintain a transparent, honest and supportive communication structure with the Medair team, with communities, beneficiaries and donors.

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE:

-Must have a degree in GIS, topography, surveying engineering, or related field with demonstrated capabilities in GIS

-Esri ArcGIS desktop software - ArcMAP

-Familiar with Data collection and Data management tools

-Knowledge of modern cartographic standards and principles.

-Familiar with AutoCAD and DWG files

-Familiar with Google Earth and KMZ files

-Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

-Experience using Esri ArcGIS desktop software, including ArcMap and ArcPro

-Experirnce in Autocad Drawing, conversion of Layers to AutoCAD

-Good Engish
