Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The Health Assistant (HA) will be responsible for implementing the daily activities in the field mainly providing training, supervision and support to the CHVs as requested from the health Officer. The health officer is to work under the direct supervision and guidance of the health officer.
- Lead, organize, recruit, and supervise community health volunteers.
- Provide training, coaching and supervision for Community Health Volunteers.
- Assist in formulation of needed IEC materials and approaches in consultation with health staff and the community health volunteers.
- Build relationships and act as link between Medair, communities, outreach staff and supported activities.
- Ensure that data entry forms and templates are used correctly, and data are managed timely and with high quality.
- Contribute data reporting into appropriate channels.
- Ensure services are taking place in the agreed locations and health education sessions occur.
- Recommend any improvements or changes in the community outreach program to the health officer.
- Assist in planning and implementation of assessments and surveys as required.
- Under supervision of the health Officer prepare PDFs for payment for minor equipment, consumables and supplies provision.
Staff Management:
- Line-manage, coach, and supervise volunteers.
- Ensure efficient and effective work schedule is in place for volunteers in the field according to the agreed work plan under the supervision of the HO.
- Monitor the CHVs according to their assigned tasks and provide regular feedback to the HO
Quality Management/Work:
- Contribute with other members of the team to input in the health strategy in the field.
- Coordinate his work with the health Officers (HO) for the implementation of the assigned health activities and ensure that stated goals and objectives are met.
- Reflect the core values of MEDAIR when interacting with team members, staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries.
- Provide input to the integration of beneficiary participation into all aspects of the health projects.
- Identify processes for improvement and implement enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external process requirements.
- Under supervision of Health Officer prepare PDFs for payment for CHVs, mobile teams and treatment centers staff incentives.
Communication and Coordination:
- Participate in meetings related to the project, Medair internal trainings, and other meetings as required, representing Medair and feeding back to the SHO and HO on relevant issues.
- Provide updates to the MPM on a regular basis.
- Represent Medair during donor visits.
- Coordinate closely with the local community outreach part of the project so that community-based activities roll out smoothly.
- Liaise, as necessary, with the health and logistic staff to ensure items are procured and transported correctly
Delegated Responsibilities:
Any other tasks as delegated by Health manager or Medical project manager
Person Specification:
- 1–2 years of relevant post-qualification experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field
- Native Arabic speaker with very good English (oral and written)
- Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, including XLS formats
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and willingness to share tasks and collaborate
- Encouraging and supportive attitude toward colleagues and volunteers
- Strong aptitude for community mobilization and engagement
- Ability to cultivate trust and promote accountability
- Ability to foster a friendly and healthy team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure, manage stress, and prioritize tasks effectively
