Hygiene Promotion Community Mobiliser

Role and Responsibilities Working as an important member of a diverse team committed to serving the needs of the world’s most vulnerable people with practical, appropriate, and compassionate care, the Hygiene Promotion Community Mobiliser supports the implementation of WASH projects through liaising with IS residents, carrying out hygiene education and promotion activities, and providing continuous monitoring of beneficiary behavior and WASH conditions in the IS.   Project Overview In response to the Syrian Crisis and the resulting influx of refugees into Lebanon, Medair is delivering comprehensive emergency water, sanitation, and hygiene assistance to Syrian refugees living in informal settlements. This project will complement ongoing shelter, site improvement, and GIS mapping projects.   Medair Medair brings life-saving relief and rehabilitation in disasters, conflict areas, and other crises by working alongside the most vulnerable. Founded in 1989, Medair’s unwavering commitment continues to bring hope to the world’s most vulnerable.    Key Activity Areas Participate in site and beneficiary selection Develop hygiene promotion materials and activities Assist in the planning and implementation of WASH activities Support logistics activities including procurement of required materials Carryout community-level hygiene promotion workshops Monitor IS resident behavior and behavior change Liaise with local communities on site Liaise with local authorities as appropriate Lead community hygiene and sanitaion councils Assist in translation as needed. Communicate implementation problems or issues to Project Manager. Liaise with other Medair teams working within the community     Qualifications University studies in social work, development or similar field experience desired.   Experience / Competencies Passionate about serving the poor, Self-motivated, Enthusiasm Aptitude for community mobilisation and engagement Team-player with good inter-personal skills, willing to share tasks Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels Creative, open-minded, flexible,self-learner Ability to adapt communication strategies for different situations Strong communication, particularly verbal Ability to translate between spoken Arabic and English Able to take initiative in distribution planning and execution ability to encourage others
