Major Duties and Responsibilities
Specialised support for the PwSN programme:

Develop a physical assessment for People with Specific Needs (PwSN) and ensure that all field staff are trained in this assessment and supported to conduct it. Training should be done through on-the-job instructions / demonstration

Review all PwSN cases and provide input on shelter interventions, to adapt and meet the needs of PwSN

Ensure, through household visits, that all referrals for secondary health care (e.g. for physical rehabilitation or prosthesis) are appropriate

Ensure, through household visits, that distributed items (e.g. raised bed sets, commode chairs, other items) are appropriate, and provide training for beneficiaries and caregivers on how to use these items safely, without causing injury

Provide expert advice on individual PwSN cases, through households visits, and help to develop creative solutions for these cases, adding to the catalogue of Medair shelter interventions

Provide technical advice on new PwSN project proposals / activities as requested

Support the M&E department to develop appropriate tools to measure the impact of PwSN interventions
Project Implementation
- Ensure that all PwSN assessments are completed with ODK tools and carried out to a high standard
- Prepare the necessary information / paperwork for PwSN referrals to other agencies, in coordination with Medair Case Officer
- Work closely with the Medair Case Officer to ensure that PwSN referrals are followed up and closed within the agreed timeframe
- Conduct follow-up visits to PwSN cases to ensure that interventions (e.g. shelter interventions and distributed items) are working as planned and used correctly by beneficiaries, to avoid injuries
- Contribute towards monthly project sitreps
- Contribute towards project donor reports, including interim and final reports

Other
- Support the integration of beneficiary participation and accountability in all aspects of the projects
- Make appropriate use of Medair online tools, including the e-library, Portfolio, and Box
- Understand and adhere to Medair Logistics and Finance procedures, as far as they concern your activities
- Be available to inspect product samples before delivery and to advise on appropriate quality / design
- Follow Medair security procedures at all times
- Any other reasonable duties, as agreed with your line manager
Personal Specifications:
- Recognised degree or diploma in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy
- Experience in delivery of services in support of PwSN
- Extensive exposure to Assistive technology and Occupational therapy
- 3 years post-qualification relevant professional experience

Native Arabic speaker

Familiar with Microsoft Office programs, in particular Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Thorough knowledge of the objectives, principles, and techniques of physical therapy, with a particular focus on rehabilitation and care and use of equipment
- Excellent manual handling skills
- Skilled in the operation and application of various physical rehabilitation modalities and techniques
- Ability to manage project implementation
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience and confidence in working with external stakeholders
- Able to prioritise clearly and oversee multiple tasks
- Able to take the initiative in project decisions
