Community Health Worker/social Worker

Main responsibilities:   Accompany mobile clinics with special attention to mental health issues Identify risk factors for negative mental health development and analyse these with mental health team Envisage and suggest initiatives to improve the community conditions for positive mental health and prevention of mental health problems       Main Activities:   Build up relationship and trust with local population of the communities and informal settlements Identify risk factors for negative mental health through observation and discussion with local population Spread information and educate population on mental health issues Refer, if agreed upon, possible mental health case to PHC Centre Organize home visits in the community/settlements for active follow up of patients with mental health problems Share observation and opinions of local population with the rest of the mental health team and develop strategy to tackle risk factors Coordinate with other stakeholders to fill up gaps in basic needs Discuss about possible interventions concerning conflict resolution between local and refugee population     Behaviour:   To behave with self-restraint at all times and treat the population kindly and respect their dignity To be able to work as part of a team and participate (according to needs) in any activity of the mental health unit Believe in concepts of equity, human rights, neutrality and impartiality     Requested Competence/Skills/Profile   High school degree Higher education in any kind of social science or/and mental health an asset Fluent in Arabic language Mentally stable with the capacity to endure suffering and sad stories Good common sense and a view for the “global picture” Mediation skills High capacity of taking over the perspective of others Strong in Communication and Cooperation
