Medical Doctor

Doctors of the World is an international humanitarian organization providing medical care to vulnerable populations affected by war, natural disasters, disease, famine, poverty or exclusion. Originally established in France in 1980, the Doctors of the World international network now have offices in 15 countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas. 

AROUND THE WORLD
 Our projects take place where the need is greatest. Throughout the 15 countries where the Doctors of the World network is present and in more than 60 developing countries, our medical teams work with community leaders to provide healthcare to the most vulnerable groups. 

BEYOND MEDICAL CARE
 Although Doctors of the World’s primary aim is to provide medical care, our work goes further to ensure long-lasting effectiveness. We draw on our experience on the ground to overcome obstacles to healthcare and to advocate for change.   In Lebanon, MDM support primary health care activities with Lebanese partners and toward Syrian refugees and vulnerable population: we support 2 health care centers and will extend our activities in the next months.    To provide primary and continuing medical care for patients, and take account of physical, emotional and social factors when diagnosing illness and recommending the required treatment, and refer the patient if needed to another health facility for further assessment and/or treatment.   Duties and Responsibilities:   Responding to medical/health problems presented by patients including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate. This includes both preventive & curative medical care, and needed teaching to patients & families; maintaining confidentiality and impartiality; commissioning healthcare by liaising with medical professionals in the community and hospitals to better refer patients when needed; Meeting targets set by MoH and MdM for specific treatments & information gathering. This includes ensuring the use of treatment protocols & the prescription of free essential drugs for Syrian refugees & vulnerable Lebanese. Managing resources to service targets as effectively as possible. Keeping up to date with medical developments, new drugs, treatments and medications. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care team and supervisors by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods. Participating to other MdM interventions, as per needs & requests.               Skills and experience needed   -       Language: Fluent Arabic and English (oral and written) mandatory, French an asset.   -       Flexible, adaptable, will to work within a team and with partners   -       Experience working in the NGOs field is an asset   -       Agrees with MDM’s values
